About Us

First Steps Babywear took its first step in India, way back in 2002, by manufacturing baby wear and children’s knitted garments from newborn to 15 years.

Beginning with a modest factory housing 60 machines in 2002 in India, we have grown into a multinational company with 6 factories housing over 2000 machines, two main factories and 6 production facilities in Sri Lanka, a design studio, a fabric mill, storage warehouses, and liaison offices, in Chennai and Tuticorin. First Steps has a workforce of 8700 employees and produces 80 million garments annually.

In 2018, First Steps ventured into Sri Lanka with a factory consisting of 60 machines in Panadura, 25 kms South of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Since then, we have taken a giant leap.

First Steps Babywear is one of the leading specialists of babywear and children’s knitted garments in Sri Lanka, from Newborn to 3year olds. We manufacture large quantities with minimum turnaround, whilst maintaining the safety, integrity and high-quality standards required of high street retail.
